6. Nia Jax Shines In Defeat

This was the best Nia Jax has ever looked in a singles bout.

Though effective in multi-person bouts, where her weaknesses can be hidden, 'The Irresistible Force' often looks ineffective in one-on-one situations. She's still not entirely convincing, but she put in a very solid performance against Asuka. Her power spots all came off well, and the success of their monster vs. underdog story had just as much to do with Jax as it did 'The Empress Of Tomorrow,' who was excellent.

Asuka put in an incredible shift. She worked extremely hard against a limited opponent, taking several huge bumps between submission-based assaults, before eventually scoring an opportunistic victory off a sloppy Hurricanrana. A disjointed finish, but not enough to derail what was an enjoyable bout.

Nia immediately got her heat back by destroying Asuka after the bell. She took the fall, but looked nothing like a loser as she drove 'The Empress' through the barricade. Perhaps finally, after all this time, Jax is finding her groove as the women's division's big bad. We certainly hope so, because she just put significant distance between her present form and those green early days.
