One would think it's in every headliner's best interests to help prepare others for the top tier. Then, theoretically at least, those main event stars have more people to work with, and the company benefits by making more money. Sounds simple when it's put that way, doesn't it?

Shawn Michaels rubbished that idea at Survivor Series 2006.

He dissed ECW's Mike Knox by pretending he didn't know who he was, then Superkicked him into oblivion for a quick elimination. After the pin, Shawn asked his partners who the funk he'd just beaten; it was the ultimate test of Knox' patience, and it must've let him know exactly where he stood in the WWE pecking order.

A promising heel had been squashed flat on pay-per-view by one of the biggest names in the biz. Michaels treated Knox like he was some local jobber who had pulled on the boots for a $150 payday because someone was sick.
