10 WWE Events Out Of Daniel Bryan's Control That Made His Career

9. Teaming With The Brian Kendrick

After a fantastic career in Ring of Honor, Bryan Danielson was considering going to WWE in 2009, or else thinking of a life beyond wrestling. Around this time, in mid-2009, The Brian Kendrick was drafted from Smackdown to Raw, and was making waves about starting a new tag team with €œThe€ perfect tag team partner. Apparently, Kendrick was backstage lobbying for it to be Bryan. Management had known about Bryan€™s wrestling ability, but didn€™t think he had enough personality or €œit€ factor (something that€™ll come up many times throughout his WWE career). Bryan actually came to a WWE taping and recorded vignettes backstage with Kendrick to show off his personality. The tag team was actually close to happening, but in June of 2009, WWE released Kendrick, putting the kibosh on any plans of the Kendrick/Danielson tag team. Despite Kendrick€™s release, John Lauranaitis offered Bryan a contract, and even though he went down to FCW and was part of the first season of NXT, Bryan had a full WWE contract, and not a developmental deal. He was the only wrestler on the first season of NXT to have that.
