9. Rusev Vs. Bobby Lashley (2019)
Boy meets girl. Boys marries girl. Boy loses girl to another boy. Girl goes on national TV for weeks to accuse boy of being a controlling sex addict and making out with new boy every chance she gets.
There is a theory credited to Shakespeare that there are only seven basic plots in storytelling, but even he would have had difficulty figuring where this one sits.
So surely did Rusev, who found himself embroiled in a bizarre love triangle after making his return to WWE TV in September 2019. During Rusev's main event match on RAW, Bobby Lashley interrupted with 'The Bulgarian Brute’s' wife Lana in tow, whom Lashley proceeded to make out with for an uncomfortably long period of time.
Things would only go downhill in the coming weeks, with Lana airing Rusev's dirty laundry in horrible, dragged out segments. Then there were the horrible, dragged out matches.
In what should have been a quick blowoff to a simple, albeit tasteless feud, Rusev and Lashley had their bout. Then they had another one. Then another with tag partners. When all was said and done this feud was stretched out for 5 months, with five separate matches advertised as the end of it all; each being terrible and losing heat as the weeks went on.
Even with Rusev now gone from the company, Lana and Lashley remain as a lingering reminder of the worst feud of 2019. Dark (Rusev) days indeed.
