10 WWE Finishers That Were Quickly Dropped

1. Kane - The Iron Claw

I'm more than willing to admit that I might be the problem. These things are subjective, after all. Even so, I'm happy to put the Iron Claw in the boldest of bold ink as the worst finishing move in the modern history of pro wrestling. Yes, worse than The Worm, worse than the People's Elbow, even worse than the Saxtonation. At least those include some form of impact. The Iron Claw is what your big brother does to you when he's trying to be annoying, not violent.

Don't tell Lance Archer that, obviously.

Kane had a brief run using the dreaded claw during his Embrace the Hate feud with John Cena and, to a lesser extent, Zack Ryder. Needless to say, the big hand in the face was as effective as that feud was engaging. It was soon jettisoned as the Big Red Mayor returned to familiar ground and a simple chokeslam to finish.

The Claw is something that should be restricted to cartoon pro wrestling and cartoon pro wrestling only. Oh my, he put his hand on his face, he's squishing his facial features together! Jiminy! Yes, something about restricting the breath, but don't try and tell me that the claw is an acceptable modern finishing move. This isn't the 1970s, and Baron van Raschke is retired.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
