10 WWE Finishers That Were Quickly Dropped

2. The Undertaker - Old School Diving Elbow

For the record, Old School Elbow wasn't the official name of the move, but you can bet your bottom buns that that is the moniker it would be given today. Could The Undertaker do it today? Maybe we'll find out at WrestleMania 37, when the Dead Man inevitably comes out of retirement less than a year after announcing the end of his career.

I joke, I joke. Besides, what do you think of when you consider The Undertaker and his finishing move? The Tombstone Piledriver, obviously, but you'd also be correct if you thought a little out of the box and mentioned the Last Ride powerbomb or Hell's Gate. If you mentioned his ropewalk diving elbow? Consider that a pointless answer, chief.

In his early WWE days, 'Taker used either the famous Tombstone or the not-so-famous elbow drop, utilising the latter when his opponent was a little on the girthy side, by which I mean he used it whenever he beat Tugboat in the early days.

All jokes aside, it was a pretty cool move. Why did 'Taker stop using it? You can play the 'wrestle like a big man' card, but the Deadman used Old School throughout his career. I'm not going to pick holes in a quite legendary career, but you can make your own conclusions.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
