10 WWE Finishers That Were Quickly Dropped

4. Seth Rollins - Collapsing DDT

It's either feast or famine with Seth Rollins and finishing moves. The Stomp is one of the most effective and impactful finishing moves in the game today, a simplistic and forceful blow that can come out of nowhere, which does seem to be the most important factor in choosing a modern finishing move. Whether by design or by accident, Seth Rollins has a winner in the Stomp.

The problem was that Vince McMahon decided that the move was too violent-looking and too easily replicated, meaning it had to be put on the shelf. What was Seth Rollins going to use as a finishing move in its stead? He eventually funnelled his 'Triple H protege' gimmick into his move set, using a sloppy Pedigree to win championships and big matches before eventually being given permission to bring the Stomp back.

For a brief moment between the Stomp and the Pedigree, Rollins used a collapsing DDT as a finishing move, although it did sort of look more like a DDT gone wrong than a focused way to bring a match to a close. It looked clumsy, didn't really garner any sort of reaction from the crowd, and was quickly abandoned in favour of the more credible Pedigree, which served Rollins all the way until the return of the Stomp. Wait, there was something else? Go on...

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
