This one seems a lock-in. A women’s tournament on the WWE Network has been rumoured for a while following the success of the 2016 Cruiserweight Classic, and the tournament will be yet another signpost on the road to complete revolution for the women of the professional wrestling world.

The main point of excitement here will come from fantasy booking the individuals who will take part in the tournament. Will it have 32 participants similar to the CWC? Will it feature talent from all over the world, or will the focus be on US talent? Will Io Shirai win it all?

The Cruiserweight Classic saw Tajiri and The Brian Kendrick return to WWE, and the women’s tournament would surely see some female legends of the ring make a return to WWE. What price Victoria, Molly Holly, and Beth Phoenix back in a WWE ring in 2017?

A women’s tournament on the WWE Network is almost sure to happen in 2017, and it should be a cracker.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
