10 WWE Gimmick Reboots That Saved The Wrestler's Career

1. Isaac Yankem/Fake Diesel To Kane

Glen Jacobs has been employed by the WWF/E for more than 20 years. He began his WWF career in 1995 as Isaac Yankem, DDS. Again, he was a victim of Vince McMahon's desire to have occupation gimmicks for his wrestlers. Yankem was brought into the Bret Hart/Jerry Lawler feud after Lawler lost the "Kiss My Foot" match to Bret at the 1995 King of the Ring and had to see a dentist. The gimmick was killed dead by 1996, and later that year, Jacobs returned as the fake Diesel, which again was meant to be a one-time shock thing, and lasted way too long (into early 1997). Later that year, Jacobs was re-packaged as Kane, The Undertaker's long-lost brother. By being linked to a wrestler who was already considered a legend like The Undertaker, Jacobs was assured that as long as he held up his end of the bargain as a wrestler, he would have enough longevity with the Kane character. Nineteen years, an unmasking and remasking, and countless face/heel turns later, Kane is still going strong in the WWE, albeit in the twilight of his career. A former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion, Kane is a sure-fire future Hall of Famer, which is light years away from Isaac Yankem. Thoughts on this list?
