10 WWE Gimmick Reboots That Saved The Wrestler's Career

10. Papa Shango/Kama To The Godfather

Charles Wright has been with the WWE a very long time. A real-life friend of The Undertaker, Wright had many different gimmicks in the early part of the 90s. He started as Papa Shango, a voodoo master who had a high-profile feud with The Ultimate Warrior cut short due to rebooking Summerslam 1992. After Shango, Wright was repackaged as Kama, the Supreme Fighting Machine, who was a prominent member of the Million Dollar Corporation. After that ran its course, Kama became a member of the Nation of Domination and was billed as Kama Mustafa. It was during his time in the Nation, in 1998, where Kama starting bringing "ladies" to the ring. It was after the Nation disbanded that Kama was repackaged as The Godfather. When the WWF was in the Attitude Era, Godfather was a very big part of holding down the midcard. His catch phrase at the beginning of his matches kept him relevant for quite a long time. The Godfather character was so popular, that Wright was brought back as The Godfather character many times, including Vengeance 2005 where he convinced Viscera not to marry Lillian Garcia, and most recently the 2013 Royal Rumble.
