10 WWE Gimmicks That Were Basically Just Rip-Offs

6. The Rock/Juventud Guerrera

The Rock Juvi Yes, this actually happened. For virtually no good reason whatsoever, Juventud Guerrera started stealing The Rock's catchphrases, mannerisms and wrestling moves including The Rock Bottom and People's Elbow. It was so weird, that is was actually kind of entertaining. However, it just made WCW look more minor league than it already was by having one of its wrestlers base his gimmick off of the other company's top star. You could actually say that The Rock started this "war" with Juvi when he mocked a recently debuting Chris Jericho on Raw with this gem: "You think you impress The Rock? Why? Because a couple of months ago you were down South beating some jabroni named Juventud?" Juventud apparently didn't take this so well, and decided to build his entire gimmick off of The Rock. However, he was a heel while he was doing this, so it was even more confusing. He'd show up on Thunder, with a microphone in hand, and say something like "finally, The Juice has come back to Milwaukee!" The crowd would boo as announcer Scott Hudson would rightfully point out they were in Madison. This went on for some time, until WCW folded in 2001. Juventud was eventually brought into the WWE in 2005. Unfortunately, we never got to see the dream match (well, Juventud probably dreamed of it) between him and Rock, because Rock was long gone. Six months later, Juvi was released. Sadly, no one will ever know what The Juice was cookin'.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
