10 WWE Gimmicks I Loved (That Everybody Else Hated)

7. Chief Morley

WWE.comWWE.comThe Val Venis character was a very popular midcarder in the late 1990s and into the early 2000s, but once the gimmick lost its steam he became a guy in Right to Censor and later as Chief Morley. His real name is Sean Morley. The "Chief" part applied because he was hired as the Chief of Staff by Eric Bischoff in late 2002. It was a character that should have been very successful for Morley. They could have had him wrestle when Bischoff needed him to and then be an office stooge when the situation called for it, but instead the role he had was inconsistent. He was always a good talker too. If you had somebody in that spot that couldn't talk then it would be pointless, but Morley was always very good at engaging a crowd. He could have been so much more than the "hey ladies" guy. There were plenty of things they could have done with a character like that. In fact, Jonathon Coachman ended up turning into a heel stooge character that could have been Morley, who was a trained wrestler unlike Coach. It was a missed opportunity for Morley.
