10 WWE Gimmicks Worse Than The Stretcher Match

7. Strap Match

Right off the bat, it is worth noting that the strap match is not the absolute worst idea ever conceived. It offers a no-holds barred setting, brutal action, and two competitors attached to one another by a leather strap. So, what€™s not to love, right? The biggest problem with the strap match, in my opinion, is the ending. Instead of providing an exciting ending with one superstar completely decimated after being beaten by a strap, the contest usually ends after one competitor touches all four corners. In order to reach all four corners, the other competitor must be conscious, as the strap is not long enough to reach all four corners while the opponent is lifelessly lying on the mat. This causes situations where both superstars are still conscious and aware of what is going on, basically amounting to a tug of war between two oiled up men wearing underwear. The lack of finality is the primary reason the strap match must be included on the list.
