The Cruiserweight Division may be beyond saving at this point.

It was the first title clash of the night, in a spot following two big lugs lobbing softballs at one other. If Kalisto and Cedric Alexander, with that crowd, those flips and that place on the card couldn't get a response any louder than the post-SmackDown Live! lull they're used to, there's perhaps no point in Triple H trying to wade through treacle to try and craft something any better.

Alexander's victory didn't even generate a pop. The pair had tried - my word they tried - to create a sense of tension in between the flips and occasional trips, but even a nation that's paid millions just to have WWE weren't buying what they were selling.

Given rare time on the show instead of being employed to kick it off, this was another dispiriting missed opportunity for the lightweights.
