Kurt Angle almost killed his WWE career before it started.

This is another tale from 'Grilling JR' that's well-worth hearing. Jim Ross was left flabbergasted when the Olympian told McMahon during his first WWF meeting that he simply couldn't lose any matches. That wasn't going to fly, but Angle held firm and left thinking he was in the right.

To be fair to Vince, the boss didn't shield Kurt from the truth. He told Angle that he'd have to lose at some point, because everybody did - that's how the industry worked. It relied on peaks and troughs, and he definitely wasn't going to write some sort of 'no jobs' clause into anyone's contract.

Once Angle had left, Ross and Vince scratched their heads wondering what had gone wrong. They were confused that Kurt would think he was going to come in and steamroll over the top of everyone in his path. Meanwhile, the gold medal winner was only worried about protecting his unbeatable image.
