10 WWE Heel Turns That Ultimately Failed

10. CM Punk Heel Turn Proved WWE Didn't Know What They had With Punk - 2007

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27Xho9l1Tok CM Punk is widely regarded as one of the best heels WWE has ever had. His run with the Straight Edge Society in 2009 revolutionized what it meant to be hated, as he was being called the Devil and an Antichrist for his zealous behavior toward convincing people to walk the path of straight edge. And the heel turn while WWE Champion in 2012 turned Punk from the most loved in the company to the most hated in a flash. But that wasn€™t the first heel turn for Punk. Back in Punk€™s ECW days, the WWE brass didn€™t really know what they had with him. While Punk was feuding with Hardcore Holly and Mike Knox, a war was breaking out between the ECW Originals (Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu and The Sandman) and the newest ECW stars called The New Breed. After Wrestlemania 23, both groups sought to recruit Punk, and he decided to join The New Breed. The turn lasted a whole two weeks before he left the group and turned back babyface. The turn was utterly pointless. Had WWE known what they had in Punk, he could have made a serious impact as a heel immediately in his WWE career.
