10 WWE Heel Turns That Ultimately Failed

8. Mick Foley Goes Anti-ECW - ECW One Night Stand 2006

At the post-retirement stage of his career, Mick Foley was a high-quality novelty act. He had just come off finally having his Wrestlemania moment when he stole the show against Edge. While he was years past his full-time prime, Foley still felt like he could contribute to the show. The big story of the summer of 2006 was the resurrection of ECW, and Foley thought he could play a role in putting over the revived company by acting as an antagonist in a reprisal of his anti-hardcore days in the real ECW. Foley turned heel and joined up with Edge as the two men shared possession of the Hardcore Title and feuded with Tommy Dreamer and Terry Funk at One Night Stand. The highlight of the heel turn was an anti-ECW promo that was classic Foley. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwGMbNAU74c Once the ECW feud was over, Foley turned his attention to Ric Flair, who he had legitimate heat with based off their days together in WCW. After an awful 2-out-of-3 falls match at Vengeance and a disappointing I Quit match at Summerslam, the Foley heel turn was dropped after Vince McMahon fired him. Foley himself has gone on record to state that the turn looked better on paper than it was in execution.
