10 WWE Heels Who Were Too Entertaining To Boo

9. New World Order

Vince McMahon’s attempted New World Order revival fell apart for a number of reasons, and the crowd reactions were a huge part of it. When Vince promised to “kill his creation” by bringing the stable back, his threats weren’t met with fear or apprehension, but widescale excitement. People were buzzing about the group’s return, and they struggled to get over as heels.

Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash were treated as returning heroes, not all-conquering villains. They received a thunderous ovation upon returning at No Way Out 2002, and when Hogan wrestled The Rock at WrestleMania X8, he was treated like royalty. The fans popped huge for his entrance, and even though The Hulkster was working heel, deafening chants of “HOGAN! HOGAN! HOGAN!” rang-out through the match.

Even in their original form, however, it was tough to boo the nWo. They may have been WCW’s chief antagonists, but Nash and especially Hall were just too slick to hate outright. The stable and branding went over huge with the crowd, and at their peak, it seemed like every Nitro audience member was clad in an nWo shirt. They might be the biggest heel stable of all-time, but the nWo’s reactions were often more positive than negative.
