10 WWE Heels Who Were Too Entertaining To Boo

4. The Shield

Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns hit WWE like a wrecking ball. Debuting at Survivor Series 2012, they obliterated John Cena and Ryback to allow CM Punk to retain his WWE Championship, and were soon waging were on each of WWE’s top babyfaces. Their run produced classic six-man tag matches against The Wyatt Family and Team Hell No & Ryback, and The Shield were one of WWE’s most popular acts for the duration of their run.

The Hounds of Justice were initially portrayed as a vicious mercenary group, but they were too visceral and exciting to boo. Their presence restored an element of danger that fans assumed was long gone from WWE programming, and you never knew when they’d strike next. For a while, nothing was as exciting as The Shield, and it speaks volumes that each member has since become a genuine main event star.

The Shield had fans harking back to The Nexus’ explosive debut, but unlike that particular stable, The Shield delivered on their early promise. They eventually turned face and feuded with Evolution, but it didn’t matter: they were going to get favourable reactions regardless.
