Baron Corbin really gave it to some audience members that looked believably p*ssed off as he paraded his newly-won US Title at the conclusion of a triple threat encounter that appeared designed to see him stumble yet again in his laboured effort to creep up the card.

And so he should have. He's a heel after all, and if you can't give fans a piece of your mind on Twitter for fear of being guilted into an apology, you should at least be able to do your actual job in front of the live crowd.

Unlike everything that happened to him before, during and partially after SummerSlam, 'The Lone Wolf' wasn't haunted by the day-glo spectre of John Cena and was shockingly permitted to make the most of his career nadir as a result. The August Brooklyn crowd started a 'Where's Your Briefcase?' chant before 'The Champ' literally conducted them in singing a different song all about him, so it was pleasing to see Baron allowed to take the heat for himself in the evening's surprise package.

AJ Styles was every bit as phenomenal as he claims to be, but hopefully this latest secondary deposit is his last. The WWE Title picture has never needed him more.
