With just over two and a half hours of wrestling in a total broadcast that went an hour longer than that, Hell in a Cell was a comparatively leaner offering against the bloated 'Big Four' and a far superior way to spend the time than any given edition of Monday Night Raw.

A sense of purpose goes an awful long way on a show that lasts an awful long time, and the pace and performance of the pay-per-view for once resulted in the wrestlers feeling like they actually belonged on the company's once-grand stage.

The card lacked a large portion of SmackDown and Raw's rank-and-file, but then these joint brand supercards always used to - there shouldn't be filler space kicking around regardless of the bonuses the WWE Network execs receive for minutes watched on the service.

Every single match got the time it needed without drastically outstaying its welcome, and virtually every story told had the concise consistency required to keep the travelling circus moving to Monday's next town. Much audience wrist-wringing is done in the throes of desperation - just getting the simple things right is enough. And at Hell in a Cell, it was.
