4. Chad Gable Vs. King Corbin

Your writer held the (perhaps, in hindsight, naive) opinion that the "Chad Gable Is Short" narrative was within the realms of acceptability for WWE plotting, considering how the former American Alpha man had only taken the jibes from some of the company's heels - not least heels that he'd subsequently battered en route to a narrow King Of The Ring final loss against Baron Corbin.

'The King' was back on his bullsh*t ahead of another enjoyable outing between the pair, though when his royal renaming of Chad to "Shorty Gable" was repeated by ring announcer Greg Hamilton when he f*cking won the match, it was no longer worthy of defence.

All of this was great because of course it was. 'The Lone Wolf' has really, really found himself this year, exuding confidence and composure like never before. Chad Gable remains the most prodigious and underrated wrestler in the entire company, fat lot of good any of that will actually do him at this point. He welcomed the nickname in a post-match promo too, finally giving into the bullying. Before getting anihilated by the bully.

Such is life in WWE.
