Speaking of Harvey Wippleman's monsters, Kamala was a famous WWF superstar that had multiple runs with the company beginning in 1984.

The real-life James Harris began wrestling for Vince McMahon in the mid 80s and had several different "handlers", or managers, throughout his first several runs including Friday, Kim Chee, "Classy" Freddie Blassie, The Wizard, and Mr. Fuji. As a heel, Kamala's biggest feuds were against Andre The Giant, Hulk Hogan, and Jake "The Snake" Roberts but by the time the very first Royal Rumble premiered in January 1988, Harris had left the company.

When he returned in mid-1992, the Royal Rumble had been firmly established as an annual spectacular that took place every January. The 1993 Royal Rumble was the first real chance for The Ugandan Giant to participate and though he was originally advertised for the match, was left off the card. It was the same story at the next year's Royal Rumble where he was eventually replaced by Virgil.

Kamala made a big impact in WWE during the 80s and 90s and, especially considering the multiple Rumbles he was advertised for, is quite surprising to learn that he never wrestled in the 30-man battle royal.
