Mark this day down, and save yourself trawling through the Network aimlessly to find it: 12 June 2020. That was the day when WWE culminated yet another excellent tournament with a world-class match for the Intercontinental Championship. As memory serves, this match was slated to be on the Backlash card but ended up as a middle segment on weekly TV.

With 'The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever' between Edge and Randy Orton slated for the pay-per-view WWE probably did the right thing by having Styles and Bryan steal the show on SmackDown rather than overshadowing the Orton/Edge match.

It's Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles, in the final of an Intercontinental Championship tournament. I don't know what else to say. Regardless of it being given away on weekly TV, this matchup gave us a glimpse back in time; when the very best workers in the company fought with every weapon in the armoury to get their hands on that belt. Just go and watch it, and picture the fervour that would have been spreading across every seat. This could be a WrestleMania main event, no questions asked.
