10 WWE Main Eventers Fans Rejected

8. Jack Swagger

Jack Swagger entered WWE full of promise. A former amateur wrestling standout, ‘The All-American American’ debuted on ECW, and captured his first piece of gold just four months later. He held onto the ECW Championship for over 100 days before eventually dropping it to Christian, and transitioning to Raw in 2009.

Swagger initially competed for the US Title, but soon shot towards the top of the card. He became Mr. Money In The Bank in 2010 and cashed-in just a few days later, pinning Chris Jericho to become World Heavyweight Champion.

It was a shocking move, and one that Swagger never truly recovered from. His push had come too fast and too soon for fans to believe in him as a top champion, and he couldn’t get over. Poor old Jack had been thrust into a spotlight that he just wasn’t ready for, and it was impossible to take him seriously as “the guy,” particularly when competing against the likes of Jericho and Randy Orton.

Swagger’s reign was destructive, and effectively ended all hope of becoming a permanent main eventer. A long, slow tumble down the card followed, leading to his eventual 2017 release, by which point he’d become utterly listless.
