10 WWE Matches John Cena Absolutely MUST Have In 2025
6. Reigniting A Rivalry
When Kevin Owens debuted on the main roster in 2015, he immediately targeted the Face that Runs the Place, shocking John Cena in his debut match. It put KO on the map, despite losing the rematch.
Today, Owens is on the heel run of a lifetime due to his feud with Cody Rhodes (more on him later) and his gimmick as the “True World Champion.” A villainous KO reigniting his rivalry with Cena could be electric, whether he’s still toting the Winged Eagle title around or not.
Cena is a great foil to a heel like Owens, virtuously standing up for WWE and calling out KO’s hypocrisy while providing Kevin with an easy target (much like Cody has). Their promos alone (provided Cena is dialed in) could be fantastic television, and their match could be incredible, as Owens is every bit the in-ring magician that Chad Gable is – just in a different vein. It’s not hard to envision Cena defending (and losing) the Intercontinental Championship to Owens in this scenario.
Whether he wins or loses, Cena facing KO in 2025 is a must-have rather than a nice-to-have.
