10 WWE Matches John Cena Should Have Lost

9. Vs Edge And Big Show (WrestleMania XXV)

For the record, I’m not saying Big Show should have won this match. God no.

That being said, this match certainly felt like the lesser of the three big matches going into WrestleMania XXV, the others being Michaels-Undertaker, and Orton-Triple H. And it did feel quite predictable that Cena was going to win. Had this match closed out the show, I would’ve agreed with the face going over and the kids going home happy. This wasn’t the case, however, as the Triple Threat was sandwiched in between one of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time, and a retribution storyline victory for Triple H. So there was room to shake things up a bit.

What the WWE should’ve done instead was have Cena lift both men, but only hit the AA on Big Show. Afterwords, Edge could spear Cena out of the ring, and steal the victory by pinning Show after Cena did all the work.

This could’ve set up their last man standing match at Backlash just as easily as a rematch clause. As an added bonus, the World Heavyweight Championship wouldn’t be a hot potato, Edge could’ve had a lengthier five month title reign before losing to Jeff Hardy, and he wouldn’t have had to wait two more years to get his first world title victory at WrestleMania. All Cena had to do was lose.
