10 WWE Matches John Cena Should Have Lost

2. Vs. Bray Wyatt (WrestleMania XXX)

Here’s the part of the list where Cena gets the shovels out.

Bray Wyatt was on his way to becoming one of WWE’s major players in the future, seemingly destined to be the next Undertaker. His promos, although at times a little too much of a riddle to understand, were genuinely haunting and captivating. In the ring, he worked stiff, physical matches, that made him seem even more dangerous than his mannerisms showed, and when paired with the right guy, he could put on classics, like his match against Daniel Bryan at the 2014 Royal Rumble. The sky seemed the limit for The Eater of Worlds.

Unfortunately, his limit was Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect.

The story of their WrestleMania XXX encounter was that John Cena could only beat Bray and the rest of the Wyatt Family by unleashing his “inner monster”. What that entailed was hopefully a darker side of Mr. Fluorescent T-Shirts. For much of the match, Wyatt taunted Cena, at one point handing him a chair, and asking it to use it on him to force a DQ. Cena, however, overcame the odds, and won with the AA.

Imagine how different it could’ve turned out if Cena had started to fall into Bray’s darkness only to stop himself, and have Bray take advantage. It would’ve given Wyatt’s words so much meaning, and would’ve made him look unstoppable. Unfortunately, his speech seemed hollow by the fact that he couldn’t realize his own prophesies. In other words, his loss to Cena has sent him down a path he’s been walking ever since.
