10 WWE Matches That Changed Your Mind About Wrestlers You Hated

Who rose to the occasion when most required?

As important as talent is to the career of any pro wrestler, perception trumps it - any performer on WWE's roster is ultimately beholden to how the fans and the office views him, and shaking off a first impression can be difficult, if not outright impossible. In recent years, men like Dolph Ziggler and Zack Ryder have been held back from the top by skeptical decision-makers, while Roman Reigns, deserving of success or not, has been hamstrung by an audience that doesn't take him seriously as a hero. Changing Vince McMahon's opinion may be impossible, but the fans can be swayed - many wrestlers have earned the respect of the WWE Universe with hard work and gimmick changes. It's usually not an immediate process, but some wrestlers - like The New Day or even John Cena, early in his career - have won over the fans and found success. Sometimes, the transformation is quick, though - some wrestlers, with a little bit of luck and all the skill they haven't had a chance to show off, are put in a position where they can deliver, changing the fans' minds in a single night...

10. The Shield Vs. The Wyatt Family - Elimination Chamber 2014

The Shield first debuted at Survivor Series 2012, and they spent the next year-plus running roughshod over WWE. Scoring six-man victories over the likes of John Cena, Sheamus, Randy Orton, and The Undertaker, the faction was unlike any in the company's history. Even after their undefeated streak ended, they remained a peerless force in the company... at least, until The Wyatt Family debuted. With leader Bray at the helm, The Wyatts set sights on fan favorites such as Kane, CM Punk, and Daniel Bryan. They carved their own path of destruction, and while both teams were heels, fans couldn't help but wonder if a clash was in the works. Thankfully, it was - the six men met at Elimination Chamber in a bout that changed history for The Shield. Despite not changing their attitude or demeanor, The Shield became the de facto faces in their war with The Wyatt Family, and the result was an insane brawl with clear cut crowd favorites. Though The Wyatt Family scored the win over The Shield as tensions began to mount between the trio, it was a good day for The Shield, who showed off their skill, hunger, and athleticism en route to becoming very popular.
