10 WWE Matches That Changed Your Mind About Wrestlers You Hated

9. MVP Vs. Chris Benoit - Judgment Day 2007

MVP debuted on Smackdown in 2006 with loads of fanfare, but his first feud saw him face off with Kane in an inferno match - hardly ideal conditions to build a reputation as a great worker. MVP lost and spent the requisite amount of time on the shelf attending to his "injuries," and when he returned, things looked brighter - he moved into a feud with United States Champion Chris Benoit. The two clashed at WrestleMania XXIII, where Benoit scored the victory after a diving headbutt, and again at Backlash, where Benoit pinned MVP with a small package. Both contests allowed MVP to show his wrestling ability, but it was their third battle, at Judgment Day, that put the rising star over. The match was a two-out-of-three falls bout, and MVP quickly claimed the first pinfall with the Playmaker. At that point, fans assumed Benoit would even the score and bring things to a third fall, but MVP pinned him again with an inside cradle. The newcomer had scored two straight falls over one of wrestling's most venerated superstars, and won the U.S. Title in decisive fashion.
