10 WWE Matches That Completely Fell Short Of Expectations
5. Royal Rumble Match, 2015
The 2015 Royal Rumble match often gets a bad rap for its closing scene, but really there were faults top-to-bottom with this one.
First, there was the Daniel Bryan debacle. Retaining his spot in the match on the go-home Raw gave fans a glimmer of hope that he may actually win it, but despite being the overwhelming fan favourite, he entered early at No. 10 and was dumped out in under 11 minutes.
Then, there was the issue of the final four, which included a 42-year-old Big Show and 46-year-old Kane, both of whom eliminated a bunch of younger guys with consummate ease, making them looks like absolute chumps in the process. Their victims included Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler and Bray Wyatt, the latter of whom had lasted 48 minutes and earlier gone on something of an elimination spree, only to see all that work undone in a flash by these two old-timers.
The icing on the cake came in the form of Roman Reigns' win and the failed attempt to use The Rock’s endorsement to help get his cousin over.
The Rumble’s meant to be one of the more exciting matches of the year. This was anything but.
