Man alive, wasn't it all kinds of great to see Edge return to a WWE ring at this year's Royal Rumble PPV? Yes, yes it was.

The *begins Tony Chimel voice* Rated R Superstar *ends Tony Chimel voice* had the sort of return that many can only dream of. Nine years after his passion and childhood dream had been ripped out from under him, Adam Copeland had gotten to a place in life where he was finally able to step between the ropes once more.

Of course, the buzz around this return was only amplified further after Edge was left laying by Randy Orton on the night after the Rumble, and it's fair to say that Edge vs. Orton was the match that the majority of us were most looking forward to at WrestleMania 36.

While the current global chaos and lockdown measures meant that this match had to take place at the empty WWE Performance Center, the contest did itself no favours by going nearly 40 minutes.

It's always going to be hard to maintain an audience's attention for any significant amount of time in such an empty setting, and that indeed proved to be the case for the clashing of these two multiple-time World Champions.

Edge and Randy both put it a great effort, the build to the match was truly must-see TV, and the proposition of a Last Man Standing Match only added further fuel to the fire. Unfortunately, clocking in at 37 minutes meant that this much-hyped match just fell disappointingly flat.

Given the empty arena, capping the match at 20 minutes would've likely resulted in a vastly improved final product for one of 'Mania 36's biggest attractions.
