Three part-time wrestlers and a retired former wrestler walk into a wrestling ring...

While the D-Generation X vs. Brothers of Destruction match at the 2018 edition of Crown Jewel was viewed as a joke by many wrestling fans as soon as it was announced, that contest went on to bore the pants off each and every person who opted to watch the match.

After seeming to be one of the extremely rare wrestlers who were going to stay retired, Shawn Michaels was lured back into action by the Scrooge McDuck levels of money offered up to him for this one-and-done bout. By this point, Michaels was alongside The Undertaker and Kane in being in his 50s. Throw in Triple H and his notorious penchant for having matches that go painfully long, and the ingredients suggested that this wasn't going to go well.

Four veterans battling each other in tag action is something that can be successful if done well, yet this Crown Jewel clash played out to be a truly painful 28 minutes.

An injury to Triple H obviously didn't help the match, but there's an argument to be made that that derailment should've been the cue to go home earlier than originally intended. Instead, we got an overly-long, plodding tag team encounter that not even the undeniable brilliance of the hadn't-missed-a-step Heartbreak Kid could salvage.
