In 2003, you'd be hard-pressed to find two wrestling machines more on-fire than Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit. The latter was truly starting to get into a groove with WWE, and validating the opinion of those who surmised WCW were idiots for not catapulting him to the top of the card. Angle was also extraordinary - one of the best talents to come along in years, the Olympic Gold Medal winner was the complete package, and would put his body through hell to ensure each match, even on smaller 'B' shows, was highly thought of. On the surface, the 2003 iteration of the Royal Rumble didn't have much going for it other than this encounter and the Rumble match itself. After Scott Steiner and Triple H had stunk out the building, Benoit vs. Angle was the ideal antidote, wrestling's ultimate version of an air freshener, staving off the lingering smell of the turd from before. It's criminal that there's a generation of WWE fan which hasn't witnessed this wrestling clinic, and that should be rectified immediately.
