10 WWE Moments That Destroyed The 'Fiend' Character
1. Roll That Clown Up & Smoke It - TLC 2020
Things got a little hairy for 'The Fiend' by the end of 2020. Once an unstoppable force, WWE had haphazardly booked Bray Wyatt into a corner, where he would either be destroyed or have a chance to take a breather in hopes of coming back stronger. (Sounds familiar, no?)
A glaring issue with 'The Fiend's' presentation was his invincibility, as it pigeonholed creative more often than not. Every time Wyatt needed to be knocked down, WWE had to take a greater leap.
To write 'The Fiend' off TV for a while, WWE decided the best idea was to burn the creepy-ass clown to a crisp at the end of the FireFly Inferno match.
There had always been a fire theme between Wyatt and Randy Orton, but it was a bit of a stretch for 'The Viper' to light his adversary on fire. He was already going to get burned from the match, anyway, so why not pummel him afterward?
Instead, WWE will have to explain how 'The Fiend' didn't actually die once he returns. Sure, there's a supernatural aspect to the clown character. Still, to buy into pro-wrestling, you have to suspend your disbelief, and it's rather difficult to ignore the fact you saw a character die before your eyes. Then again, we all accept the fact Mr McMahon is still kickin', so...
Here's hoping fire actually does cleanse for Wyatt's sake.
