10 WWE Moments You Never Thought You'd See (But Did In 2017)

9. James Ellsworth Wins Money In The Bank

Okay, so James Ellsworth didn’t literally become the owner of a Money in the Bank briefcase, but for all intents and purposes he won the match. To make matters even more ridiculous, Ellsworth stood atop the ladder at the end of the inaugural women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. It was either a kick in the shins for the women of wrestling, or a genius way to get more heat on Carmella.

In truth, not many fans expected James Ellsworth to still be with the company through 2017. The Chinless Wonder was released late in the year, but his run ended up being a thousand times better than anyone expected. After all, he was supposed to come in, get squashed by Braun Strowman, and leave.

Most fans expected Charlotte to win the first ever women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. That was a fair assumption, but it wasn’t unthinkable that Becky Lynch or Natalya could do so. Did anyone expect James Ellsworth to be the man to unclasp the briefcase?

Absolutely not.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
