But would Rey Mysterio have reached the main event in any case? Almost certainly.
Rey's accomplishments have been unfairly downplayed in the time since he became the biggest little man in all of WWE at WrestleMania 22, with many fans insisting that the high-flyer would not have won the World Heavyweight Championship without his connection to Eddie Guerrero.
Apart from his obvious ability, that theory simply ignores how popular Mysterio was in the years prior to winning his maiden world title. He would have made it regardless - perhaps not so soon, but he definitely would have made it.
