WCW's Black Scorpion was one of the promotion's worst ideas, and the fact that gimmick headlined Starrcade 1990 opposite Sting should've resulted in slaps for the booking squad. By 1993, a similar type of character began showing up on WWF TV, but it wasn't Ric Flair under a hood.

Nope, it was future Attitude favourite Gangrel.

Gangers worked under a mask as the Black Phantom between 1993-1995, and he worked way more TV matches than some might imagine. Check this out for a list of televised rivals: The 1-2-3 Kid, Earthquake, Lex Luger, Razor Ramon, Tatanka and The British Bulldog. Those are just some of Phantom's foes.

A three year layoff from the fed followed before Phantom ditched the mask and returned as Gangrel in 1998. That gimmick became synonymous with '98 WWF, and helped facilitate the rise of Edge and Christian. Who knew the enhancement worker in the black mask would achieve such status?
