WWE previously treated the old World Heavyweight Title as more of an upper card experimental belt than a proper headline prize. It was deemed perfect for trying on certain wrestlers at a higher level. Fail with the big gold, and they wouldn't get anywhere near the WWE Championship.

Unfortunately, that led to a game of pass the parcel which damaged credibility and made the strap look secondary next to the real top title. WWE shouldn't go down that road again with the newer World Heavyweight belt currently held by workhorse babyface Seth Rollins - there's really no need to.

Come 2024, it's vital that Raw's main championship looks prestigious. Lengthy title reigns are a must, otherwise the thing will end up feeling more midcard than main event. For example, there's no need for Damian Priest to cash in MITB, hold the strap for a month then pass it on to the next trial champ.
