10 WWE NXT Main Roster Call-Ups That Must Happen In 2019

9. Pete Dunne

Pete Dunne was positioned as one of the stars of War Games II as the pay-per-view went off the air, and good f*cking job too, because the belt he carries between his teeth does less and less for him as the months roll on.

WWE's delayed NXT UK roll-out has afforded 'The Bruiserweight' a bizarre record as UK kingpin. Dunne's approaching 600 days with the strap ahead of a TakeOver: Blackpool match against Joe Coffey that, regrettably, could go either way. However, during that mammoth reign, he's never defended the title on a live WWE broadcast, nor really been presented with that many opportunities to top the incredible TakeOver: Chicago effort against Tyler Bate in 2017 that earned him the prize to begin with.

The man is trying to make the title but the title is killing the man, and the sooner he's without that, the sooner his place on either trans-atlantic NXT brand will seem a greater irrelevance too. Like a - gasp - woman or - hard gasp - cruiserweight being considered main event material in WWE, Dunne proffers potential hope for an authentic, unvarnished British topliner that didn't need Vince McMahon's mechanisms first. And it's not like they even did much for Wade Barrett or Drew McIntyre (Take One), anyway.
