10 WWE NXT Matches We Absolutely Must See Right Now
8. The Mechanics v. The Vaudevillains
Debuting on the July 30, 2014 episode of NXT were Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder's tag-team pairing as "The Mechanics." No, this isn't a paean to the days of the mid-90s where a team with this name would be paired with Bob "Sparky Plugg" Holly, but rather the duo originally both from North Carolina are "in-ring technicians." From their debut performance versus the aforementioned Mojo Rawley and Bull Dempsey tandem, the duo have a ton in common with another team with the Carolinas in their roots, that of Ole and Gene Anderson, or Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. As well, debuting on the June 18, 2014 episode of NXT were the team of Simon Gotch and Aiden English, the Vaudevillians. A team with a gimmick based from old school carny carnivals, their black and white-stylized videos and carnival strongman techniques owe more to classic comedy than pro wrestling. Though named "villains," it's impossible to really take a team with their presentation as serious heels. Thus, if pairing the duo with the less over-the-top presentation of The Mechanics could make for entertaining matches and a feud that could go quite far in embellishing and fleshing out the newly created characters.
