8. Owen Hart

Owen Hart may have been one of the business€™ €˜good guys€™, a notorious ribber, and an absolute master in the ring, but that still didn€™t stop Shawn Michaels putting the kibosh on a full feud with him. With the Montreal Screwjob having gone down and Owen having been absent from WWF TV for a while, The King of Harts was set to return as the revenge-seeking Canadian hero and engage in a series of matches with HBK at the turn of 1998. They would have a match on Raw in which Owen was over huge (seriously, go back and listen to the reaction to him throughout that match), but that match was only used as a conduit to getting Owen into a feud with Triple H rather than HBK. From reports of those around the company at the time, the belief is that Michaels was worried that Owen was going to be working too stiff with him and so the angle was transitioned to Hart vs. Hunter whilst Shawn went on to feud with The Undertaker. Of course, that €˜Taker feud led to the career-ending (well, until he returned years later) back injury for Shawn. Karma? Surely not€
