WrestleMania X was going to end in championship glory for Bret Hart; that's something most guessed heading into the pay-per-view, because Bret was a much better candidate for the gold than failed babyface hero Lex Luger or titanic Japanese heel Yokozuna.

Guaranteed a WWF Title bout opposite either Yoko or Lex later on the card, the Canadian had to face his own brother in a special grudge match first. Match quality was high, and there was clear value in a protracted series between both siblings for the rest of 1994.

Still, with Bret's sure fire title party looming, the mere thought that Owen would beat his main event brother seemed ludicrous.

When Owen rolled Bret up for the pin after 20 minutes of sterling action, the live crowd inside Madison Square Garden sat with mouths agape. In the opener at WrestleMania, the youngest Hart brother had cleanly defeated the man who would be WWF Heavyweight Champion by the end of the night.
