10 WWE Payback 2020 Impulse Reactions

6. Matt Riddle Vs King Corbin

Matt Riddle was named in the Speaking Out allegations.

Those are the facts and nothing more, but it's important to keep that in the conversation as long as a distinct lack of transparency and change threatens to undermine the immense bravery of all of those that contributed to the conversation back in June. WWE, brazenly, seem to agree.

Shortly before Payback, King Corbin tweeted about how Riddle wasn't much cop at home. Right before their match, the 'Original Bro' was read that back as a way to motivate him. This was all pretty grim.

Taking place in the immediate aftermath of that, this was a match that happened for 11 minutes until Riddle apparently scored the physical and moral victory with a Floating Bro. The immersion was broken before the bell, with one the grossest cases of having cake and eating it too since the Drake Maverick debacle earlier this year. "Uncomfortable at the expense of the action" may well be the qualifier more matches like this in the future, not least if the company persist with rank trivialisations of very serious issues.
