Some WWE pay-per-views just feel decidedly average going in.

Maybe the card is uninspiring or the TV hype has been a bit 'meh' beforehand. Sometimes, a glut of other, similar so-called 'supercards' means certain shows come across as totally missable - you can always pick back up on Raw, right? It's a monthly burden on the creative team to produce memorable pay-per-views every single time, so they can probably be forgiven for a few stinkers.

Then, occasionally, something magical happens. Fans yawning as they tune in get blown away by some unexpected goodness. It's a great feeling when the promotion's roster, perhaps motivated by the knowledge that they need to graft if they're going to get people talking, absolutely smash it.

No, not every pay-per-view in WWE history is worth revisiting on the Network, but some get a bum rap because of flat build or because there was so much going on around the same time. The sneaky upside of this is that being surprised by a better-than-expected monthly never fails to satisfy.

Most fans thought these events would suck. They really, really didn't...
