10 WWE PPVs That Changed EVERYTHING
6. NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn I
NXT had delivered great events before August 2015 (TakeOver: R Evolution still stands among the developmental brand's finest), a handful of which exceded Brooklyn's quality, but Triple H's pet project had never (and has never) resonated as strongly as it did when Bayley and Sasha Banks hit the ring for their now-classic NXT Women's Title bout.
That this contest remains the benchmark against which all other Women's Revolution bouts are measured, despite everything we've seen since then, speaks volumes. An enthralling clash between the ultimate sympathetic underdog and a perfect arrogant heel champion, Bayley vs. Banks belongs in a museum. It's as close to flawless as the Revolution has ever been, but more importantly, it showed, conclusively, that WWE's female performers could indeed compete at the same level as their male counterparts, exceeding anything NXT's Four Horsewomen had put forward up to that point.
Capped by an underrated Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens ladder match, this zeitgeist-grabbing show featured a fun Jushin 'Thunder' Liger cameo and a slice of pantomime in The Vaudevillains vs. Blake & Murphy. It was the night NXT broke out, and while the brand has since exceeded it between the ropes, it may never deliver another show this game-changing.
