10 WWE PPVs That Could Replace Payback

Could there be an air of 'Genesis' about WWE's first post-WrestleMania pay-per-view?

A fair portion of the pro wrestling fan base likes to imagine that they know everything that's going to happen in WWE. Scan any social media platform or virtually every internet forum, and the same old complaints crop up. WWE, they argue, is far too predictable. Whilst this could be argued to an extent, few can claim with any accuracy that they foretold Shane McMahon's re-arrival on WWE television come Monday Night Raw. For WrestleMania, a Hell In A Cell bout has been set up pitting Shane against the might of The Undertaker. Some have their reservations about such a match, but it's more interesting than a prospective battle between 'Taker and Braun Strowman which was rumoured late last year for the big event. The stipulation states that should Shane win, he will take storyline control of Raw. Rumours are currently circulating online that WWE are set to do away with the Payback pay-per-view name. Originally, the show was scheduled for May 22, but it has since been moved to May 1. This makes it the first PPV after 'Mania, and if rumours are true that the event is set for a name change, just what could it be? This article looks at ideas which might be the most fitting. The archives of WWE and even WCW are analysed to see what names would be best, and a few new concepts are offered along the way.
