10 WWE PPVs That Couldn't Follow Their Opening Match

9. Great American Bash 2006 - Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Pitbulls

Unlike WrestleMania 9, the 2006 Great American Bash is far from a disaster. Although it features the horrendous 'Punjabi Prison Match' between Undertaker and Big Show - a bout akin to watching an old elephant take its last depressing steps - the PPV is an average show on the whole. It's capped by the end of Rey Mysterio's disappointing reign as World Heavyweight Champion, courtesy of a Chavo Guerrero heel turn, a swerve which partially distracts from the debacle before it. However, the turn (and King Booker's subsequent victory) isn't the real highlight of the event. That accolade must go to its ludicrously high-octane opener. Paul London and Brian Kendrick must be one of the most under-appreciated tag teams in WWE history, particularly from an in-ring perspective. Although their tag title defence against Jamie Noble and Kid Kash is hardly a perfect match, it's contested at an incredibly high pace - coming off more like a furious indie contest than a 'sports entertainment' clash. It's sloppy in parts, but easily outstrips every other match on the show in terms of action; especially that damn Punjabi Prison match.
