From @WrestleMike: Would more wrestling and less promos equal better ratings, at least for Raw?
Yes. It really is that simple. A big part of the problem with Raw is that there too many repetitive promos that just cover the same things over and over. It's become so formulaic to see the show begin with the same 15-20 minute promo usually by The Authority. When they were gone for a little over a one month we still got those promos by guest GMs or other people. Vince McMahon told Steve Austin that he felt it was needed when he was on his podcast. Sure it's needed once in a while, but not every single week. There are too many Raw episodes that end in promos or contract signings that should be done in the middle of the show. End with a match, please. Try to come up with a finish that's better than what is currently being done week after week. With all of that said, not every fan wants more matches or longer matches. It's just that promo heavy shows (like this past Monday's Raw) can kill a crowd and hurt the overall flow of the broadcast. Look at NXT. They have a great mix of matches and promos, but it's the matches that stand out the most. That's how Raw should be too.
