10. Shelton Benjamin's Run In WWE Could Have Been Better

From @TheDirectorGuy1: Why didn't Shelton Benjamin have a real run in WWE?
It's a very good question that's tough to answer, but in WWE's defense they did try with him. It's not like he was some guy that barely got TV time and was a jobber for most of his career. He was a Tag Team Champion, Intercontinental Champion, United States Champion and somebody that got regular time on television. A reason why he didn't make it to the top as a main eventer is probably because they didn't give him enough of a character. He's a blue chip collegiate wrestler that may have been the best athlete in WWE. Other than that, what was he? They tried some silliness by bringing in a woman as his mother and then they tried to be more serious by making him the "Gold Standard" that dyed his hair gold. During all that, they never really gave him consistent promo time or real character development. Giving a guy a nickname isn't enough. They needed to do more for him. Since he was a guy with average height and a personality that didn't blow people away, WWE never really felt like pushing him to the top. Could he have had great matches at that level? Absolutely. Great worker. However, it was his personality that likely held him back. It's not something I liked, but I'm just trying to look at it from WWE's point of view.
